Essential oils ear ache

An earache can leave you in excruciating pain and make you feel utterly helpless. Typically, an earache is caused by bacterial or viral infections. Not only do earaches make you very uncomfortable, but they can also be hard to treat. Many people are turning to essential oils to help clear up an earache naturally.

Essential oils are derived from plants and they are the super-concentrated forms of the plant they have been taken from. Plants or parts of the plant are steamed, allowing the oil to be separate from the water present within the plant. The chemical makeup of the essential oil depends on the type of plant it is extracted from and the way the oil is harvested. Most of the essential oils have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties which are useful for fighting off viral and bacterial infections. The virus works by taking over the cells in the body and then uses the body’s own cells to make more virus cells. There are certain essential oils that can help to stop that process by preventing the virus from replicating. Many essential oils work like an antibiotic and help to kill off harmful strands of bacteria. Different essential oils work differently to kill bacteria.

There are several essential oils that you can resort to when you are affected by an earache depending on its inherent capabilities of treating ear infections. Research shows that both tea tree and basil oils have medicinal properties that are useful in treating earache.

  • Tea tree oil has a lot of terpinen-4-ol, and this chemical compound helps to kill off bacteria that it comes into contact with and because of this, tea tree oil is even more effective than some other antibacterial cleaning agents.

  • Basil essential oil contains anti-inflammatory and antiviral compounds that can help relieve pain and kill bacteria.
