Steps To Skincare Routine

step to skincare routine

Some people may roll their eyes at the prospect of a skincare routine. But take it from me, a relative newbie onto the skincare scene, it is worth the effort. Our skin is our best defence against external factors and harmful elements so it’s crucial we thank it for its hard work. Having a 4-step skincare routine is the best way to do this. I have listed two potential skincare routines, one for oily acne-prone skin and one for dry sensitive skin so hopefully, you will find one that works for your skin type. For people with combo skin, most products will suit you so just find one that you like the look of or take inspiration from the products listed below as most will work for you too! 2021 is the year of glowing, healthy skin, people!

The 4 Steps To Skincare Routine

  1. Cleanser

A cleanser shouldn’t just be used when removing make-up. Throughout the day, oil and other impurities build up in your pores and it is vital that you refresh your skin and remove them.

  2. Toner

A toner is used to prep your skin for the next steps to skincare routine. It lowers your PH level and allows your skin to fully absorb the creams and serums that follow.

  3. Serum

Serums are part of the steps to skincare routine because of their boosting qualities! They efficiently penetrate the deepest layers of the skin and boost the effectiveness of the aforementioned steps.

  4. Moisturiser

This last step can come in the form of a day or night cream. While you don’t necessarily need to carry out all 4 steps to skincare routine both morning and night, moisturiser should definitely be applied at both times. It provides your skin with the ultimate defence against pollution and environmental stressors, as well as nourishing it giving it that natural glow.
