Recipe Guacamole

Everything tastes better homemade and guacamole is no exception. With avocados solidifying themselves as a firm favourite in most households, it’s no wonder the world has gone mad for recipe guacamole as well! Avocados are loaded with what we call “good fats” and are often hailed as “superfoods” as well. High in potassium and fibre, guacamole is renown for being an excellent accompaniment to nachos, but it also pairs surprisingly well with a number of dishes and this quick and easy guacamole recipe is sure to have everyone begging for more! So without further ado, here is the ultimate recipe guacamole that is sure to hit the spot!

Recipe-Guacamole

Note: This recipe guacamole is made to serve 4 family members. However, you may adjust the ingredients accordingly. 


Ingredients: 3 avocados, 1 lime (juiced), 1 teaspoon of salt, ½ cup of diced onion, 3 tablespoons of chopped cilantro, 2 Roma plum tomatoes diced, minced garlic and one pinch of ground cayenne pepper (optional). 

Begin by mashing the avocados, the lime juice and the salt in a medium-sized bowl Mix in the onion, cilantro, garlic and tomatoes. (Optional step) Stir in the cayenne pepper if you want a bit of a kick! Put into a serving bowl and enjoy! (For maximum flavour, refrigerate for 1 hour)
Now there is a multitude of ways you can enjoy your homemade recipe guacamole, but I’ll start with a real crowd-pleaser…

Recipe Guacamole On Toast

Not only is this super easy to make but it is also very versatile. Have it for breakfast, lunch and as a snack!


Ingredients: 1 avocado, 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro, juice of 1/2 lime, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional), salt & pepper to taste, and 2 slices of whole-grain bread or bread of choice

Start by toasting 2 slices of bread until golden brown.  Mash the avocado, cilantro, lime juice, and salt and pepper. Then divide the mixture up between the toast and sprinkle on some red pepper flakes for extra flavour. 

Recipe Guacamole Cucumber and Tomato Salad


Ingredients: ½ C. tomatoes, chopped, ½ C. cucumber, chopped, ½ C. avocado, chopped, ¼ C. red onion, chopped, 1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice, 2 Tbsp. cilantro, chopped, salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste, dollop of guacamole

This is a healthy yet tasty guacamole recipe. All you need to do is combine all the ingredients into a salad and top with a generous amount of guacamole. 

Recipe Guacamole Steak Salad Dressing

This salad is slightly more complex but serves to prove that salads can also be super delicious!

Dressing Ingredients: 1/3 C. olive oil, 1/4 Avocado, 1 large lemon, 3 tablespoons lemon juice and 2 teaspoons zest, 1 large lime, 2 and 1/2 tablespoons lime juice, 1 tsp. onion powder, 1 + 1/2 Tbsp. white wine vinegar, 1/2 Tbsp. honey, 1 C. lightly packed cilantro, 1/2 tsp. spicy brown mustard

Combine all the ingredients in a mixer or blender until smooth.

Salad Ingredients: 1 lb. tri-tip steak, cooked and sliced, 4-6 C.  chopped romaine lettuce, 2-3 C. Arugula, 1 C . halved cherry tomatoes, 1 C. roasted red peppers, 4-5 green onions chopped, 1/3 C. dried cherries or dried cranberries, 1/3 C. sliced and toasted almonds, and 1/3 C. feta cheese

Start off by washing and drying the lettuce, then chop it into small pieces. Halve the cherry tomatoes and chop the roasted peppers and green onions.  When you are ready to serve, toss the lettuce and tomatoes in with the dressing. Stir in the sliced and toasted almonds, dried cherries, chopped green onions, and feta cheese.

Recipe Guacamole Banana Pineapple Smoothie

Now there’s no reason why savoury foods have to have all the fun! This green smoothie recipe is the perfect way to help you reach your five a day and tastes amazing too! 

Ingredients: ½-1 C. milk of choice, 1 banana, sliced and frozen, ⅓ C. pineapple chunks with juice, ¼ avocado, and a handful of spinach or kale

Using a high powered blender, add all ingredients and blend until you reach the consistency you like. 

Recipe Guacamole with Smoked Salmon

Ingredients: 3 avocados, 200 g smoked salmon, 1 red onion, cilantro, a handful of cherry tomatoes, 2 Tbsp plain yoghurt, 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard, juice of half a lime, and salt and pepper to taste

Begin by cutting the avocados in half.

Scoop out the insides with a spoon and place them in a bowl.  Cut your smoked salmon into bite-size pieces. Dice up the cherry tomatoes, onion and cilantro. Mash up all the ingredients and season with salt and pepper.

Recipe Guacamole Soup

Note: This guacamole recipe involves a slow cooker.

Ingredients: 32 ounces chicken stock or vegetable stock, 3 ripe avocados (smashed), 1 large onion (peeled and chopped), 3 cloves garlic (minced), 1/4 small habanero pepper (seeded and minced - optional), 1 tablespoon ground cumin, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 bay leaf, 1-2 teaspoon honey, 1 tablespoon lime juice (optional), and Salt and pepper to taste.

Add the avocado, onions, garlic, herbs, spices, habanero peppers, stock, and ½ teaspoon of salt to a slow cooker. Cover the cooker and turn on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.  Once the soup has been thoroughly cooked, you can remove the bay leaf and use a blender to turn the soup into a puree. Stir in the lime juice and honey, and season with salt and pepper. Bon appetite!
