Hairstyles For Teens

As someone who remembers their teen years all too well, I can vouch for how fun those days can be. Hobbies and interests are developed, lifelong friendships are formed, and far too much time is spent staring at a phone screen. It is also important to establish a sense of self and create your own identity, and one of the easiest ways to do this is through your hair! They say you can tell a lot about a person by their hair, for example, mine was always wild and untameable, much like myself. Some may prefer a sleek up-do to reflect their sophisticated personality, whereas some may like a crew-cut to show their athletic nature. I’ve compiled a list of the best hairstyles for teens, both male and female, so hopefully there will be something for everyone!

1. The Quiff

As far as hairstyles for teens go, it really doesn’t get more classic than this! The quiff has long been a popular choice among boys for its versatile nature and classy appearance. For a subtle look, the short quiff is perfect, and for a more bold look, the long quiff or the messy quiff is sure to help them stand out!

2. The Undercut

Another staple of hairstyles for teens, the undercut is cut short around the sides and back of the head while the top remains long. While most pictures depict it with straight hair, it also works great for curly hair as well! This is ideal for older teen boys who want to maintain a classy appearance.

3. The Crew Cut

A classic and timeless style, the crew cut is one of the top hairstyles for teens. It’s a short cut that’s ideal for athletic and active boys, but in all honesty, it is adaptable to any style. The crew cut also makes the face more defined.

4. The Pompadour

For those who feel like quiff hairstyles for teens just doesn’t quite cut it, let me introduce the pompadour. Favoured by rock greats such as Elvis, this is a great teen boy’s haircut that looks slick and dapper. It does require a lot of maintenance and some industrial-strength hair gel but the end result, once perfected, is something of a statement!

5. The Faux Hawk

The faux hawk is short around the sides and back, and it gradually gets longer as it pulls towards the middle of the head. Hairstyles for teens like this one is definitely more suited for those wishing to make a statement with their hairstyle. It takes styling with gel in order to keep it in the middle and works best with individuals that have long faces, strong chins, and high cheekbones.

2. The Messy Braids

Though tight braids are a popular style for little girls, messy braids are more relaxed, on-trend, and mature look hairstyles for teens. They are great for lazy mornings and second day hair and dry shampoo will give your hair extra grip and help hold your braid together.

A centre part is an easy, trendy style that will highlight your face. It’s also incredibly versatile and can be worn up or down, and is also flattering for all face shapes and hair types. The centre part is a timeless hairstyle that gives off serious model-off-duty vibes. This is by far one of my favorite hairstyles for teens.

5. The Beach Waves

This look is for those after something a little more laid-back and casual. Use an iron to curl your hair loosely away from your face. There’s no need for the curls to be uniform; for this beachy look, messier is better. Use a sea-salt spray for extra beachy vibes - perfect of hairstyles for teens.
